On Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 3-6 p.m., four authors of (Pieces Of Her Mind:Women Find Their Voice in Centuries-Old Form) participated in a sponsored, entertaining, informative and engaging lecture on Japanese Aesthetics and the short Japanese forms of senryu, kyoka and haiga. Attendees of the seminar received a complimentary signed copy of the recently published and well received book, Pieces Of Her Mind.
The seminar was held in the beautiful (Japanese Friendship Garden) at Balboa Park in San Diego, California.

From 3 - 4 p.m.
The books authors shared valuable information on kyoka, haiga and senryu. Sue Galletti also spoke on how senryu has found new life in today's haiku/senryu society. Audience participation was encouraged. Several members and staff of the Japanese Friendship Garden were present, as were several members of book clubs, who plan to share our book with their clubs.

From 4 - 5 p.m.
A 30 minute docent-led tour of the lower Japanese Friendship Garden took place. Afterwards, attendees had the opportunity to tour, at their leisure, the upper garden.
The Japanese Friendship Garden recently received a $3 million dollar donation from Japan Airlines.

From 5 - 6 p.m.
An informal reception allowed the attendees to interact with the authors while they enjoyed a wonderful sushi demonstration and meal, prepared on-site by the owner and head chef of Zensei Restaurant in North Park. Beverages of beer, wine, sake, and non-alcoholic drinks were provided.
